Dispatch ChillRail
US Patent Application 17/893,958 — Notice of Allowance, August 2024
Not everything travels in a cart. Dispatch ChillRail is a refrigerated box mounted at high level above the cart rail, holding everything else at temperature on the same system — no dry ice, no separate unit, no guesswork.
What it holds
The items that have never had a proper home on a catering vehicle.
- Ovens — held at temperature rather than sitting out in ambient
- Wet ice — contained and chilled, without melt running through the load
- Ice cream — the hardest item on the vehicle, and the one dry ice handles worst
- Galley top items — milk, juice, loose provisions and anything that will not fit a cart
Why it matters
Loose items are the gap in every cold chain. Carts get the attention because they hold the meals, but ovens, wet ice, ice cream and galley top stock travel in whatever space is left — usually unrefrigerated, usually with dry ice thrown at the problem.
That is where waste, uneven chilling and failed temperature checks come from. Dispatch ChillRail closes it by putting those items on the same refrigerated air supply as the carts, with the same logging.
Advantages
- Runs from the same ChillRail plenum — no second refrigeration system to buy or maintain
- Mounted at high level, so it costs you headroom rather than floor space or payload
- Eliminates dry ice for loose items, and the 35–50% wastage that comes with it
- Handles ice cream reliably, which dry ice does not
- Temperature logged on the same system as the carts, wirelessly, with no user input
- Same HEPA-style and UV filtered air path, maintaining a food-safe environment
- Fitted during the same two-day retrofit as Vehicle ChillRail
- Moves to another vehicle when this one reaches end of life

Fit ChillRail to one truck, leave an identical truck unmodified, and run both on live routes for 30 days. Fuel, service calls, pull-out temperatures and cold-chain compliance all become your own audited data before you commit to anything.
